Campaign Dispatch January 12, 2018

In the Wisconsin State Senate...

  • Senate committees roared into high gear this week holding hearings on a host of bad bills often with short notice and little opportunity for the public to participate. Among the worst is SB 634 which further limits collective bargaining and eliminates the ability of local governments to regulate employment practices within their jurisdiction. One more example of Republican legislators taking rights away from workers, overriding local preferences and ignoring the wishes of local voters.

On the Campaign Trail...

  • On Thursday, January 4 Kathleen kicked off the New Year by speaking to the Kenosha County Democrats. Kathleen stayed to hear an engaging discussion by the party members on spring elections and how to grow their party and engage new voters and activists.

  • Monday we had a rollicking fundraiser and pizza party in Eau Claire. More than 120 crowded the room. There were many new faces of all ages and interests and lots of energy in the crowd and from the candidate. Joe Lunginbill, a member of the Eau Claire School Board introduced Kathleen recounting all she has accomplished for public schools as Senator and recommending her as the best gubernatorial candidate to move public education forward.
